Arsenal will give Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin face late fitness tests ahead of their match at Liverpool today
Manager Unai Emery has been forced to field a makeshift defence lately with midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles playing at the back in light of Arsenal’s injury crisis.
But Arsenal.com provided an update on Friday that announced that Mustafi, Monreal and Bellerin could all make a welcome return to the pitch for today.
Both Mustafi and Monreal have right hamstring injuries and will be assessed by the Arsenal medical staff before this afternoon’s kick-off.
The last time Mustafi played at the heart of the Gunners defence came on December 8 in a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town, while Monreal missed Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Brighton after coming off against Burnley last weekend.
Meanwhile, Bellerin’s left calf problem will also be tested with the Spanish full-back having been sidelined for nearly two weeks.
Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan (fractured metatarsal) and teenage star Emile Smith Rowe (right hip) will be unavailable.
The Premier League match at Anfield between Liverpool and Arsenal will begin at 18:30 (CET).
