Real Betis are reportedly on the verge of signing Nabil Fekir from Olympique Lyonnais with the France international already agreeing personal terms.
France international, Nabil Fekir is set to leave Olympique Lyonnais after reportedly agreeing personal terms with La Liga highflyers, Real Betis.
The Andalusia outfit has been tracking the forward for quite a while and see him as a great replacement for Giovani Lo Celso in case the Argentine decides to leave.
The young playmaker has been hotly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nabil Fekir came really close to signing for Liverpool last summer. Sadly though, a move fell through due to rumors surrounding the condition of his knee.
According to The Standard, it appears that the France international could be signing for Betis after the Spanish outfit agreed to pay Lyon €25 million for the forward’s signature.
With just a year left on his current deal, Jean-Michel Aulas was also keen on cashing in on the player.
“Nabil has entered the final year of his contract so there may be a temptation for [interested] clubs to let the situation drag on,” Aulas told RMC Sport.
“With Nabil and the players who preceded him, I have always respected their deepest wish,” continued Aulas.
“He says that he wants to leave but maybe he will stay, and at that point, we will try to agree on an extension.
“Sometimes unfair things happen in football and sometimes the conditions for a transfer are not met.
“Nabil deserves a club to match his level and if he does not find it we will be very happy to try to extend his contract].”
And with Nabil Fekir likely to join Betis, it would pave the way for Lo Celso to sign for the Spurs.
The Spanish outfit wants at least €75 million for their star man but so far, Mauricio Pochettino’s side hasn’t been able to match the offer.
