Real Madrid full-back Nacho Fernandez revealed that the entire team are behind Isco who he hopes will return to his best soon
The Spanish playmaker made a rare start in the return leg of Real’s last-16 Copa del Rey tie at CD Leganes on Wednesday night.
But Isco was unable to make an impact before manager Santiago Solari substituted him for Cristo Gonzalez Perez in the 68th-minute of the game with Leganes emerging 1-0 victors.
“He’s a very important player for Real Madrid and continues to work hard to get back out there and display the confidence we all need, he’s got the backing of the whole squad,” said Nacho on the club website.
“We need Isco to be at his best, and the same goes for all of our players”.
Despite the loss on Wednesday night, however, Los Blancos are through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey after winning the first leg 3-0.
“We did not have the ideal first half, but we got through and that’s what we wanted,” added Nacho.
“Real Madrid are still in two competitions and we need to fight for La Liga till the last.
“When you lose you know there is room for improvement. We have had a lot of injuries this year and we’re not playing our best, something is amiss.
“We have a long way to go. These past years have been the best in Real Madrid history, it is hard to match that, never mind top it”.
Solari’s side will next face Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu this Saturday in La Liga.
