Napoli lost to Fiorentina last night in a bland performance by Gennaro Gattuso’s side who didn’t manage to create a lot, despite playing at home and looking to bounce back.
Aurelio de Laurentiis forced his Napoli team into a retreat earlier this season.
That didn’t go down well with the players. All of this resulted in eventually sacking Carlo Ancelotti as the team’s manager.
So, the moment Gattuso took over – he took the team into a retreat.
It looks like the results still aren’t there.
However, Napoli’s players are aware of the responsibility, so they called for another retreat – themselves!
“I spoke to the squad and they made the decision to go into a training retreat from this evening,” Gattuso told Sky Sport Italia.
“It was their decision. We can’t underestimate any detail. We need to look each other in the eye, stay together and say what needs to be said.
“We have to find solutions, because what we’re doing right now is not enough.”
It’s safe to say that Napoli won’t fulfill the expectations for this season. However, they will do everything to prepare for Lazio in the Italian Cup arriving in just two days.
