Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli insists no offers have been made for the in-demand centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly amid Premier League links.
Widely regarded as one of the best defenders on the planet, Koulibaly has become a subject of interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
While United and Liverpool long seemed to be the front-runners in the race for the 29-year-old, Pep Guardiola’s City have recently emerged as the leading candidates.
The Spaniard is desperate to strengthen his backline following a leaky season and has identified Koulibaly as his number one priority for the upcoming transfer window.
However, the Sky Blues have yet to make their move for the Senegal international, who has recently refused to rule out the possibility of leaving Naples.
Meanwhile, Napoli are hopeful of retaining their defensive cornerstone, with Giuntoli insisting they haven’t received an offer for Kouibaly.
“At this moment, we haven’t received any offers,” the director told DAZN, as relayed by Goal.
“Koulibaly had important offers in the past and a great deal of interest, but we are in no rush to make decisions.
“We consider our players important and will discuss the situation with them.”
Additionally, Napoli bigwig Aurelio De Laurentiis has also thrown down the challenge for potential buyers to either match Koulibaly’s £85million price tag or walk away.
