Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli took all three points at home to Hellas Verona after a Milik inspired victory.
After drawing with Torino before the international break, Ancelotti’s men needed a win to stay in touch with the Serie A front runners.
Nobody expected the hero of Naples to be Arkadiusz Milik though before the game.
Polish international Milik had failed to find the back of the net yet this season before the game.
However today he broke his duck and led the front line and his team to victory.
The game was a releatively even affair. According to ESPN the home side had 56 per cent of the possession.
However, it was a very open game, with Napoli registering 21 shots, and Verona 20.
The problem was the quality of the end product, with five anf six of those shots respectively being on target.
Milik broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, to give his side the lead at the Stadio San Paolo at the break.
Fabian Ruiz assisted, as Arkadiusz Milik took a left-footed shot from a very close range to bury the ball in the back of the net right down the centre of the goal.
In the 67th minute, Milik struck once again for his brace and doubled the lead.
This time the provider was Lorenzo Insigne.
Insigne crossed the ball from a free-kick, and Milik got on the end of the ball. Once again using his left foot, but this time found the top corner of the goal.
That was all she wrote, and both sides exchanged glancing blows, with neither able to create much more.
The team from Naples now sits fourth in Serie A only one point off of Third-placed Atalanta, two off second-place Inter and five off of the top.
