The Costa Rican goalkeeper believes the people who said he trained badly were wrong and he can still play well.
Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas started today for Real Madrid, keeping the Los Blancos goal unbeaten as they defeated Celta Vigo 2-0 in the Spanish La Liga competition.
Thibaut Courtois stayed on the bench, as coach Zinedine Zidane is testing who can defend the goal better.
And Navas took his chance to talk to the press and send a message to all those “haters” who say he doesn’t train well and that’s why he was relegated lately to the bench.
“The people who said that I had trained badly now have to admit [they were wrong] because either they don’t know me or never saw a training session at Valdebebas,” Navas told Marca.
“Everybody there knows how I train. At the end of the tunnel, there is always light and that’s how I have always worked.”
“Now I want to enjoy this and live in the moment. If you think about the future, you lose perspective of the time you are living in,” he added.
“I work every week to try and be in the coach’s team and today, the sun came out. I always try to contribute, and I will be stronger from this situation and have more desire.”
“I haven’t played for a long time and I’m very happy. The future will be seen but I’m happy here and will work as I always do,” he added.
“Thinking about the future distorts the present, as I said, but what is important is that I worked hard and was given an opportunity as a result of it.”
“My family and myself are both happy here and we will see what happens in the future, but my desire hasn’t changed and my intention is to fulfil the contract I have,” the goalkeeper concluded.
