The European transfer window slammed shut on October 5th, offering Serie A clubs the opportunity to make some last-minute additions to their roster.

Although Juventus had already completed the majority of their business earlier in the summer, Andrea Pirlo bolstered his squad with the capture of Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa.

The 22-year old joined the Bianconeri on an initial two-year loan deal, and he cannot wait to get started in Turin. Despite making 137 appearances for the Viola, the Genoa-born wide-man has rarely hidden his desire to play for La Vecchia Signora, and he is also understandably looking forward to teaming up with peerless Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although CR7 is likely to be managed carefully this season, Chiesa is still likely to provide plenty of service for the talismanic Portuguese international. The winger has previously spoken of his admiration for the three-time Ballon d’Or winner, describing him as an ‘exemplary professional’ and suggesting that his ability to focus on every single detail has helped to play a crucial role in keeping the 35-year old at the top of his game.

Chiesa vs Ronaldo – 2019/2020 Serie A season stats

Chiesa has already got off the mark for the campaign, having found the net in his former side’s topsy-turvy 4-3 defeat at the San Siro at the end of September. Last season, he averaged 3.3 shots per game, and finished as the club’s top scorer with ten goals and six assists. During the 2018-19 season, he attempted 205 dribbles, and only Alejandro Gomez has seen more of the ball in the Italian top-flight over the last four seasons.

His versatility allows him to be deployed on either flank, which is likely to come in handy given that Pirlo must find a way of accommodating him alongside Dejan Kulusevski, Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala. Strength in depth will be vitally important at the Juventus Stadium, especially considering that the club will be competing in numerous competitions this season.

Having multiple attacking options will be absolutely essential this year as the Serie A giants aim to improve upon their disappointing round of 16 exit from the Champions League. The Bianconeri look far better equipped to reach the latter stages of the competition this time around, and they always tend to be popular in the outright betting markets.

As joint sixth favourites this season, Pirlo’s men will be fancied to give punters a good run for their money despite being drawn alongside Barcelona. As ArabianBetting explain in their guide to the best Arabic betting sites, football followers will find plenty of opportunities to bet on big games this season, and with the six-match group stage being played over a truncated eight week period, there will be multiple chances to back Ronaldo and his teammates to progress to the knock-out stages. Along with the Champions League, there are the top European leagues to bet on as well as the more local Middle Eastern and North African leagues. The site also highlights the prevalence of in-play betting options at various sites so bettors can take advantage of situations during the games to get better value for money.

Although he is described as one of the best attacking talents in Italy, Chiesa would be the first to acknowledge that there is still room for improvement. He will surely benefit from playing alongside one of his footballing icons and is likely to progress significantly over the next twelve months.

Chiesa’s ability to run at the opposition has seen him awarded multiple penalties at the Artemio Franchi over the last couple of seasons, and with spot-kick specialist Ronaldo in the side, Juventus should score plenty of goals from twelve yards this campaign. CR7 netted 12 times from the spot last year, and with the new arrival likely to give his new employers a more direct approach, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him surpass last season’s total.

With a multitude of attacking options at his disposal, Pirlo now possesses an embarrassment of riches in the final third. Chiesa looks like a superb addition to the side, and he will surely relish the chance to link up and provide opportunities for his idol, Ronaldo.
