Harry Kane reached a huge career milestone as he scored a brace against Newcastle. He bagged his 200th career goal in the process.
Harry Kane joined the exclusive category as his two goals at St James Park saw him reach 200 career goals.
Spurs came into the fixture with high spirits following their 2-1 derby victory over rivals Arsenal.
All eyes were on Harry Kane who came into the clash without a game in his last three outings. Jose Mourinho was also yet to secure a win at St James throughout all his stay in the Premier League.
After both sides came close to scoring goals of their own, Son broke the deadlock in the 27th minute. It continued a good form for the South Korean, his 18th goal of the season in all competitions.
Not long after the break, Matt Rich deservedly leveled with a thunderous drive.
Just four minutes later, Kane would restore his side’s lead and hit 200 career goals. The England captain connected with Steven Bergwijn’s cross to reach another landmark.
Kane then sealed it in the 90th minute when he nodded after the rebound from Erik Lamela’s shot.
Special mention also goes out to Serge Aurier who requested to play just 48 hours after he sadly lost his younger brother. He had the highest tackles of the evening.
The win took Spurs to seventh on the table and there is hope they could yet make Europe. The Lilywhites are on 55 points and are only just four points behind Leicester and United in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
