Neymar blames PSG for his absence

Neymar insists that he has been fit and ready to play but PSG have been resting him against his will.

Neymar picked up his most recent injury either at or right after his elaborate birthday party. The story surrounding his injury is a little cloudy, to say the least.

Either way, he was unavailable and missed the four games prior to last night’s Champions League clash.

The Brazilian superstar came right back into the starting lineup against Borussia Dortmund.

However, even though he got an all-important away goal for PSG both him and his teammates were far from their best.

According to Goal, Neymar told reporters after the game he has been ready for some time and it was the club’s choice, not to play him.

He said:

“It was not my choice not to play the last matches.”

“I wanted to play, I felt good.”

“The club was afraid and it is I who suffer from it.”

It is not uncommon for a club to rest stars before a hugely significant game, especially if their fitness is a cause for concern.

It sounds a little like the blame game for a below-par performance.

Interestingly enough he does kind of have a habit of picking up these injuries at his birthday party though.
