Neymar names Sergio Ramos as his toughest opponent

Neymar named Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as the toughest rival he’s faced and hailed his old Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi as the world’s best player.

Neymar has taken on Ramos 10 times throughout his entire career for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil.

The world’s most expensive player has scored five times and enjoyed as many victories against his Spanish rival. Since his Barcelona exit in 2017, however, Neymar has only faced Ramos the one time for PSG in a 2018 Champions League knockout match.

Although there have been rumours going about suggesting that the duo could team-up this summer and lead Real’s charge for the new season.

But a return to Barcelona seems the more likely option, with Neymar seemingly pushing hard to make it a reality.

Nonetheless, the Brazilian forward revealed his respect for Ramos’ defensive prowess and his rare ability to score goals as a defender.

“The best player I’ve faced? Sergio Ramos,” Neymar told Oh My Goal.

“Because he’s an excellent central defender and what’s more, he scores goals.

“It’s very difficult to play against him.”

Meanwhile, Neymar also took the time to praise Messi and admitted it was an “honour” to play with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“For me, he’s the best player in the world,” Neymar said.

“The best that I’ve seen play.

“We made a magnificent duo, it was a pleasure for me and an honour to play with him. And on top of that, he’s my friend.”

Although Messi may face some stiff competition for a Ballon d’Or one day from Real’s teenage superstar Vinicius Junior.

“Vinicius Jr, he’s super young and while he may have many years ahead of him, I think he will become an incredible player,” said Neymar on his fellow Brazilian.

“He’ll become one of the best, he’ll compete for the Ballon d’Or. I hope he gets everything he wants.

“He’s a great kid, very kind. I hope he will go very far because he deserves it.”
