Real Madrid were keen on signing Neymar and even held discussions over the possibility of doing the same in 2019, discloses Wagner Ribeiro.
Neymar has remained on his former club FC Barcelona’s radar ever since making a world-record switch to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017.
The Brazilian joined Camp Nou from Santos and marked his four-year stay at the club was glittering success, helping them to eight pieces of silverware including two La Liga titles and a Champions League crown.
Barca have endured attacking woes in recent times with Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele spending prolonged periods on the sidelines through injuries. While Lionel Messi is up and running and yet to show any signs of slowing down, he is nearing the final years of his career.
Neymar, as a result, has reportedly been identified as the ideal player by Barca to become the focal point of their attack.
But Wagner Ribeiro, his former agent, feels the current financial situation will make the 28-year old’s move away from PSG improbable.
“I think Neymar will stay at PSG because the market is different. The economic world of football will change,” he told Fox Sports.
“I have been to Madrid several times because the objective of Florentino Perez was to recruit Neymar.
“Last year, in May, I was with him in his office. He told me that he had this dream of signing Neymar.”
