The national team will not play the rest of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with only 20 players after three were separated from the squad.
Nicaragua was in Costa Rica playing in the first matchday of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The team was defeated 4-0 by the hosts.
And after the match, three players allegedly hired the services of escorts, which made the Football Association ban them from playing the rest of the tournament.
“We are a team that represents a country and a people, we are ambassadors of the sport and therefore we can not allow serious faults when we just start the competition,” said coach Henry Duarte to Marca.
“If there is something that has made our football grow, it is the discipline.”
Marlon Lopez, Carlos Montenegro, and Carlos Chavarria were kicked off the squad, which means they will play with only 20 players on the team for the next two matches.
Montenegro and Lopez started the match against Costa Rica in San Jose, playing 90 minutes. Chavarria remained on the bench.
The team is still to play against Haiti this Thursday, and on Monday against Bermuda.
