Nicolò Zaniolo believes he must keep working every day to improve in all areas and not allow his senior Italy debut get into his head.

Playing in Saturday’s Euro 2020 qualifier match was a dream come true for the 19-year-old Roma midfielder.

He was called off the bench in the final minutes of the 2-0 victory over Finland. A win that kicked off their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign in great confidence.

“It’s a dream that I have had since childhood and this evening it came true,” Zaniolo told Rai Sport and cited in Football Italia.

“Now I have to keep working day by day and not let it get to my head. I know that getting there is tough, but staying there is even tougher. Negativity can sneak up on you quickly and you need a solid head on your shoulders to deal with that.

“I must improve in every area, but most of all work on my weaker foot.”

Zaniolo has played many roles in Roma this season, as part of a trident attack and even a midfielder.

“I can play in many roles, it’s all down to the Coach and I play where I’m told. My personal objective is now to win the next Italy game and get Roma qualified for the Champions League.”
