Paul Merson has no doubt that Jack Grealish will leave Aston Villa should they be relegated.

Jack Grealish has been linked with the exit door at Villa Park for most of this season. Many were surprised he stayed this past year.

However, the attacking midfielder chose to stay with his boyhood club as they returned to the Premier League.

Manchester United are said to be the front runners for his signature, with a move this summer on the cards. Although the likes of Tottenham are monitoring the situation.

However, the likes of his current boss Dean Smith believes the player wants to stay with the club he followed as a boy.

Merson speaking to Sky Sports can see Grealish wanting to stay, but only if Villa don’t get relegated.

Should Villa go down he is convinced that Grealish will leave.

He said:

“I would say 100 percent. If Villa goes down then I think they will get rid of Jack and he will be sold.”

“He’s a Villa man through and through, he loves Aston Villa, but he will have to move on.”

“There is no doubt about that if he wants to better himself.”

“It’s horrible saying that, better yourself because it’s a great club, but he will have to play in the Premier League.”

“For me, he would have to be sold.”

Grealish is just one of many targets for United, much will depend on who leaves and just how much money is available following the COVID-19 crisis.
