The Borussia Monchengladbach player scored today’s first goal for his team, as his club has secured European competition for next season.

Borussia Monchengladbach crushed Nuremberg 4-0 in today’s German Bundesliga fixture to secure European competition for the next season.

Thanks to the win, the team will be able to play at least in the UEFA Europa League next year, but there are mathematical options to qualify to the Champions League too.

“I feel great after this win. I was so happy to finally start again,” first goalscorer Josip Drmic told the club’s official website.

“We made it difficult for ourselves at the start and had to be extremely patient, but we knew we would open them up with a goal.”

“And that’s exactly what happened,” he added.

“We were fully focused on the game because we were determined to win – we weren’t allowing ourselves to be distracted by other results. I’m happy it all worked out. Now we can go into the final match against Dortmund fully motivated.”

Midfielder Christoph Kramer also said: “Honestly, at half time I wouldn’t have expected us to go and win 4-0.”

“But we also knew that Nürnberg absolutely had to win to have any chance of staying up, which fortunately created a lot more space for us in the second half.”

“After the opening goal, we finally started to have fun as we could hit them on the counter. We have the Europa League locked up now, it’s great to have that already confirmed,” he commented.

“It takes away some of the pressure from the final matchday. Now we want to go into the Dortmund game full strength and try to reach fourth place.”
