Atletico Madrid are well prepared and buzzing to play in the Champions League quarter-finals stage, announces Jan Oblak.
Atletico Madrid started the 2019/20 La Liga season on the wrong foot and continued to remain inconsistent for the most parts, but a good run of form post-lockdown helped them secure a third-place finish.
A new challenge now awaits them as they prepare to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Facing the German side is indeed an intimidating task. But Los Rojiblancos can remain optimistic from the fact that they have overcome bigger barriers to reach this stage, having beaten the mighty Liverpool en route to quarter-finals stage.
Jan Oblak, who received Mahou’s award as Atleti’s best player of the season, is confident that his side will be able to get the job done in Lisbon on August 13.
“The team is doing very well. We have trained very well and we are prepared for this new, different, and special challenge,” the goalkeeper said, as Marca reports.
“All of us, players, coaching staff and physios, are going to Lisbon full of excitement and hopefully we will achieve our goal.
“We met the goal of making it to the Champions League, although at the beginning of the season we looked for something else. The objective was met, but it is not all we were looking for nor what we wanted.”
