Jan Oblak made La Liga history by becoming the fastest goalkeeper to reach a century of clean sheets in Atletico Madrid’s thrashing of Osasuna.
Atletico Madrid ran riot against Osasuna during the two sides’ most recent meeting in La Liga on Wednesday.
A brace from Joao Felix followed by a strike each from Marcos Llorente, Alvaro Morata, and Yannick Carrasco helped Diego Simeone’s men look past their recent misfortunes and round off a brilliant 5-0 win.
In a match that highlighted Atletico’s true powers, another standout performer was Jan Oblak.
Oblak kept his 100th clean sheet in what was his 182 La Liga appearance. The feat saw him become the fastest goalkeeper to reach a century of clean sheets overtaking Miguel Reina, who took 222 matches to do the same.
The Slovenian is feeling refreshed after the brief break and, talking about his milestone, says he intends to further improve his statistics.
“I’m feeling very good. It doesn’t feel like we had a three-month break,” the official club Twitter handle quotes Oblak.
“I’m feeling good in goal and I think the team is too. Maybe you could tell after the first game, but now we’re improving and I hope we attack the upcoming matches like we did today.
“To be honest, I don’t pay much attention to stats. I hear what people say. It’s a nice milestone to reach but I hope it doesn’t stay there!”
