Martin Odegaard has revealed that he had offers from various clubs including Barcelona but he wanted to join Real Madrid.

In 2015, a 16-year old Martin Odegaard managed to put the European top dogs on alert with his performances. After training with the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, the Manchester clubs, Arsenal, and Real Madrid, the Norwegian eventually joined the latter for a fee of around €3 million.

After spending various spells on loan, Martin Odegaard is finally seeming to come to terms with Spanish football with Real Sociedad. And, as a result, Zinedine Zidane will reportedly bring back his wonder kid to the Spanish capital next season.

But life could have been different for Martin Odegaard as he recently suggested that he could have joined rivals FC Barcelona. The 20-year old revealed that he entertained offers from various clubs but felt his heart belonged to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“There were many teams that called my father and, yes, he traveled to Barcelona once. But, in the end, it was not the move for me,” Martin Odegaard told as per Express.

“I think my football would fit Barcelona, but I believe that’s also the case with Real Madrid.

“They want to win well and play with that offensive style… I like Spanish football where all teams are strong,” Odegaard revealed.

“He [Lionel Messi] and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best in the world and it’s special to play against them.”
