Official: Barcelona sign Malcom from Bordeaux

On a €41 million plus variables deal, FC Barcelona is the lucky side that managed to sign Brazilian winger Malcom from Girondins Bordeaux.

After so much speculation regarding Brazilian winger Malcom’s future, we finally have an answer about where he will play next season. FC Barcelona is the club that managed to sign the player for the next five seasons, the Spanish club has made it official through their website and social media accounts. The details of his contract are as follows: Barcelona has paid €41 million plus €1 million in variables if he manages to reach certain goals during his first five seasons with the club.

Born on February 26 1997, Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira began his career playing with Corinthians and then moved to French club Girondins Bordeaux where he has played for the past three seasons. During his time with the Ligue 1 club, Malcom has managed to get offers from the best clubs in Europe and has been linked to several of them. In recent days, the Brazilian winger has even been linked to a bidding war between AS Roma and FC Barcelona with the Spanish giants coming out on top at the end.

Before joining Barcelona, Malcom won the Brazilian title with Corinthians and was managed by Brazil’s head coach ‘Tite’ who gave him his first crack at professional football at an early age. The now Barcelona player has been compared to Douglas Costa in the past due to his speed and dribbling skills, in Bordeaux Malcom played 86 times and scored 19 goals with the French side. Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde wants this player to compete against French youngster Ousmane Dembele who arrived in the club last season and has yet to prove his worth.
