Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Monchengladbach.
After a successful five-year spell at Gladbach, Hazard will join Dortmund in a reported €25.5m fee on a contract until June 2024.
The Bundesliga runners-up fended off competition from Liverpool, AS Roma and Atletico Madrid for Hazard’s signature this summer.
The 26-year-old winger was keen to leave Gladbach to embark on a new chapter in his career and made it no secret over his desire to join Dortmund.
“I am grateful for five great years at Borussia Monchengladbach and very nice memories,” Hazard told the club’s website.
“This was the perfect time to take the next step in my career.
“I am proud to play for Borussia Dortmund – a top club with incredible fans.”
Hazard finished his final season at Gladbach with 13 goals and 12 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

The younger brother of Chelsea star Eden will be joined by Hoffenheim midfielder Nico Schulz in a €27m deal, which was completed on Tuesday.
“We are delighted that Thorgan has decided to go with Borussia Dortmund in full conviction that he is a seasoned Bundesliga player and Belgian national player who will help us with his pace and quality of finishing,” said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc.
Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt has also been reportedly linked with a move to Dortmund in the summer.
German news outlet Bild reported that the 23-year-old could undergo a medical as early as this week. Liverpool, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with moves.
But Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller expects an update on Brandt by the end of the week.
“I expect that in the next five, six, seven days, a decision will be made,” he told Sky last Sunday.
