Gianluigi Buffon has completed an emotional return to Juventus after signing a one-year contract on Thursday.
Upon picking up a Ligue 1 winners medal in his sole season with Paris Saint-Germain, Buffon will be back in Juventus colours for next term.
The Italian World Cup winner passed a medical on Thursday morning at the J-Medical centre and soon put pen to paper on a contract until June 2020.
Even at 41, though, Buffon wasn’t short of offers after deciding to cut short his stay at PSG last month. Among the interested clubs were Barcelona, FC Porto and a number of unnamed Premier League sides.
Despite all these tempting offers, however, a return to Italy was Buffon’s preferred option. And now Juventus have stepped in to re-sign their iconic goalkeeper for at least another season of football.
“Hi everyone, I wanted to greet you once again,” said Buffon on Juventus’ YouTube.
“I’m happy to have returned home and have the opportunity again to embrace you all and to be embraced by all of you.
“Today I received the confirmation that life is incredible, and it’s always worth dreaming.”

While no confirmation has been given yet, Italian press suggest that Buffon has an option in his contract to extend his stay in Turin for another year.
Following Juventus’ announcement, Buffon took to Instagram and wrote: “I’ve decided to come back.
“When family calls, the only possible answer is ‘I’m here’. It’s the beginning of a new stage of my long journey.
“I’m getting back to the place I’m proud to call ‘home’, and I’m doing it with unchanged spirit, endless love and absolute determination.
“This is a fresh start. Somehow different from the past, and yet filled with the same emotions and joy.
“I come back to Turin because I know I can play my part. I come back because you can’t turn down an invitation from a Lady.
“I come back because this is my home!”
