Italian manager Maurizio Sarri gave an injury update on Eden Hazard, who is confirmed to miss next Thursday’s Europa League clash against BATE Borisov.

Bad news for Chelsea FC on next Thursday’s Europa League clash against BATE Borisov, as Belgian winger Eden Hazard wasn’t able to recover from last weekend’s back injury and will miss activity for this match.

The player was confirmed as a certain absence for the match on Thursday and is also a serious doubt for next Sunday’s Carabao Cup match against Frank Lampard’s Derby County, the Championship club that recently eliminated Manchester United from the competition.

Italian manager Maurizio Sarri just confirmed the news during the press conference ahead of Chelsea’s match at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian boss also gave an injury update on another two of his players and confirmed that he will rest a few more as a precaution.

“Eden Hazard is out for sure. He has a back problem. We are trying to sort the problem for Sunday,” said Sarri according to Four Four Two.

Clubs learn Europa League fate

Chelsea will face Dynamo Kiev in the last 16 of the Europa League while Arsenal will play Rennes. The two London teams will play at home...

“It is not very easy. The other one out is Ampadu. Jorginho also needs a rest now because he played for 90 minutes in the two matches with the national team, then for 90 minutes – or, better, for 100 minutes – in the last match [against Manchester United].”

“We may change players. The problem is not this match it is the one on Sunday which is 65 hours later. Maybe we will bring in five or six players,” he added.
