OFFICIAL: Joachim Andersen moves to Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais have finally secured the services of Joachim Andersen with the Dane set to add more solidity to the backline.

Joachim Andersen had been linked with a move to the Rhone club for quite a while. And after rejecting the chance to sign for AC Milan, the youngster has decided to take his career to Ligue 1.

Lyon have definitely not wasted their time. Right at the start of the window, they had already finalized arrivals of Ciprian Tatarusanu (free agent from Nantes), Jean Lucas (Flamengo), Thiago Mendes and Youssouf Kone (LOSC Lille).

However, those arrivals didn’t mean that the club’s business was concluded. The club was keen on signing a central defender and only saw Joachim Andersen as the best option in the market.

The young defender was in amazing form in the Italian Serie for Sampdoria last season and have convinced the Lyon scouts of his ability.

In 32 games, Joachim Andersen showcased the true characteristics of a modern defender who is easy on the ball and can be solid in the air.

Lyon had initially had two bids rejected but eventually, formulated an offer which the Italians could not refuse.

A fee in the region of 24 million Euros plus 6 million in performance related bonuses was enough to convince the club into allowing Joachim Andersen to leave.

And according to Foot Mercato, Lyon have also informed the media about a presentation cum press conference where the Romanian goalkeeper and Joachim Andersen will be presented.

“Olympique Lyonnais invites you to the presentation of Ciprian Tatarusanu and Joachim Andersen at  a press conference with Jean-Michel Aulas and Juninho.”
