Less than 24 hours after sacking Maurizio Sarri, Juventus has their new boss in place, Andrea Pirlo.
Only last week Juventus appointed Andrea Pirlo as their U23 manager. Fast forward, Maurizio Sarri failed to deliver Champions League success and Pirlo is in line for a promotion.
Pirlo is a legendary player but has zero experience as a manager. It was thought that a season or two with the U23’s and he would be ready to assume the mantle of top dog at the Allianz Stadium.
Now he has been thrown into the deep end.
Juventus made the official annoucement of Pirlo’s appointment.
The club made the following statement:
“Today begins a new chapter of his career in the world of football. As it was said about a week ago: from Maestro to Mister.”
“From today he will be THE Coach for the Juventus people, as the club has decided to entrust him with the technical leadership of the First Team, after having already selected him for Juventus Under23.”
“Today’s choice is based on the belief that Pirlo has what it takes to lead, from his debut on the bench, an expert and talented squad to pursue new successes.”
“Andrea Pirlo today signed a two-year contract until 30 June 2022 .”
