Official: Sevilla sign Maximilian Wober

Spanish La Liga club Sevilla has reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Austrian defender Maximilian Wober.

Subject to passing a medical, Wober will sign a contract with Sevilla after the Nervión Club reached an agreement with Dutch club Ajax.

The 20-year-old defender was born in Vienna, Austria and can play both as a center back and left back.

Former Manchester United full-back Daley Blind hopes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will lead the club back into the Premier League top-four.

At 14 years old, he joined Rapid Vienna’s youth ranks and made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga for the first team in the 16/17 season.

In the 15/16 season, he featured for Rapid Vienna in the Europa League against Valencia, where he played at left back.

Wober was promoted to the Rapid Vienna in the 16/17 season and made 17 appearances, and scoring one goal.

In August 2017, he signed a four-year contract with Dutch side Ajax for a transfer fee of €7.5 million.

He featured 30 times for Ajax in the Eredivisie and six matches for them in the Champions League.

Announcing the deal on their official website, the club described the player saying: “Versatility, youth, and physicality with this reinforcement, as Sevilla once again bank on potential and plenty of room for professional growth”
