Spurs have finally completed the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyonnais for a club record fee of €62 million.
Tanguy Ndombele has become Tottenham’s most expensive player ever after sealing a €62 million move to the club. The move follows that of Jack Clarke who was signed from Leeds United and loaned back to Elland road for next season.
Ndombele was heavily linked with a move to Spurs throughout the summer and after finally been able to convince Lyon into parting ways with the midfielder, the Londoners have ended a long wait for a really marquee signings.
The 22 year old had a medical at the club’s facilities yesterday. The club has also confirmed the news via Twitter.
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) July 2, 2019Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne believes the VAR handball rule isn't consistent after his team were denied a late winner against Tottenham.
The move is definitely a huge statement of intent from a club that reached the final of the Champions League last season. Mauricio Pochettino is finally receiving serious backing from the board and it is clear that the club’s trajectory is going to go only upwards.
Ndombele has signed a five year contract with Spurs and is also going to become one of the highest earners at the club.
Clarke has signed a deal that ties him to the club until 2023 but will be spending one more season at Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa aims for Premier League qualification.
Spurs on the other hand, have not concluded their business in the transfer market. They are also keeping tabs on Giovani Lo Celso of Real Betis in case Christian Eriksen leaves the club this summer. Reports in Daily Star claim that the Danish international’s agent has already flown to Madrid in a bid to discuss things. However, Eriksen isn’t the club’s priority at the moment.
With just one year left on his contract, Spurs are still not eager to sell their playmaker. And with Ndombele in the team, Spurs would be hoping that the former Ajax midfielder changes his stance.
