4. Alan Shearer (Newcastle United) – 148 goals
While Shearer may be the record-holder in terms of outright goals, he sits only fourth on the list for one-club Premier League goalscorers.
The Englishman embodied all the traits of a classic #9 through his expertise in headers, shot-power, positioning, movements, physicality, and near-perfect balance. There haven’t been many like him in the game.
Shearer was always a threat throughout his Premier League career between 1992 and 2006. He constantly tormented defences, hammering home 260 league goals. 148 of those goals came at Newcastle, with the other 112 for Blackburn Rovers.
But while Shearer’s greatest legacy was at St James’ Park, it was at Blackburn where he won the only Premier League title of his career.
