Opinion: Arsenal won’t win the Premier League this year

Despite the many transfers they completed this summer, we can already tell you that Arsenal won’t win the Premier League this year.

We know this sounds extremely negative, but we are confident that Arsenal is not going to win the Premier League this year despite all the transfers they made.

After the deadline we just experienced, it is safe to say that the Gunners are the absolute winners of the summer transfer window.

They didn’t only spent a lot of money on good players, they also sold some flops for extremely elevated prices.

All of this was possible thanks to Spaniard Raul Sanllehi, the brain behind this whole transfer revolution at Arsenal took control of operations after Ivan Gazidis left the club.

He is the man who also brought Unai Emery to the club and the person who made everything possible before the transfer deadline.

The many names that came and the ones that left are many, Arsenal fans are extremely surprised for everything that took place over the summer.

Nobody was expecting the many names that actually came, this Gunners’ side can finally brag about having a competitive side in English football but we came to tell that it still won’t be enough.

Despite all the players they brought, we believe it will take the squad at least another year to get the proper adaptation and put together the competitive squad that everybody wants.

Who did Arsenal bring to North London?

Let’s start with the most incredible transfer they got, forward Nicolas Pepe was one of the most coveted players in Europe this summer and Arsenal were the ones that landed him.

The former Lille winger is one of those talents who can be compared to compatriots such as Thomas Lemar, Kingsley Coman, or Ousmane Dembele.

The Gunners paid an impressive €80 million for a player with massive untapped potential. Sticking to the French market, the Gunners also bought centre-back William Saliba fro Saint-Etienne for €30 million.

They also landed the most expensive transfer in Scottish football history with left-back Kieran Tierney for €27 million.

Young winger Gabriel Martinelli also signed for €6,7 million from Brazilian club Ituano. And last but not least, the Gunners managed to take a key player from Chelsea before the deadline.

After Laurent Koscielny left the club to play for Bordeaux, they somehow signed David Luiz from Chelsea for €8,7 million.

Quiz: What do you know about Thierry Henry at Arsenal?

It's time for you to tell us how much you know about Thierry Henry's time at Arsenal. We will ask you 10 questions about...

And those are only the names that came for a price, Arsenal only had €50 million on the budget before all the deals started.

Who left and who came for free?

Out of all the transfers that Arsenal did pay, they truly made history with this window and left all the fans extremely happy.

We can already tell you that the Gunners completed their most exciting transfer deadline of the last 15 years without question.

However, the players who came for free are also something very impressive. Dani Ceballos came on a loan from Real Madrid, he is considered one of the most exciting young talents from his country.

Reiss Nelson also came after a loan in the Bundesliga, he is also one of the biggest young names in English football right now.

And finally, we get to the exits. The Gunners somehow managed to sell Alex Iwobi to Everton for €31 million, which was one of the most celebrated moves of the summer.

Even though all this happened at Arsenal, we can already tell you that they won’t win the Premier League this season.

Perhaps they might get a chance to win the UEFA Europa League, but the domestic tournament is still out of their reach because Liverpool and Manchester City will come back stronger than last season.

It is as simple as that, feel free to tell me why you disagree with me in the comments.
