Now that his life has changed as a Barcelona player, Atletico Madrid fans should be nothing but grateful to Antoine Griezmann.

Atletico Madrid’s history has many great players that mean a lot to the club, Antoine Griezmann should be one of them and the fans should be grateful to him.

The Frenchman was part of one of the most successful eras in the club’s history, he is one of the club’s most important players in the modern age.

All those Colchonero fans who don’t like him for the way he left should know better, they have many important titles during his spell because of the contributions he made.

Although he only won three titles with the Colchoneros, Antoine Griezmann is still a living legend of the club and he did way more for them than many more players.

The Madrid squad didn’t know what it was like to be one of the most powerful clubs in the country with such consistency, Griezmann’s goals gave them that status.

Before the Frenchman arrived, Atletico never really had a player that the polls considered a certain candidate to win the Ballon d’Or.

Being a club in Europe with a player who can win all the individual accolades is what attracts more great players to the project.

This is the reason Diego Simeone explained that he can’t have any hard feelings towards Griezmann.

Antoine also wishes things would’ve happened differently at Atletico, he wanted to say goodbye in a different manner.

“We spoke in his (Gil Marin’s) own home with Andrea [Berta] and El Cholo (Diego Simeone),” he said via Mundo Deportivo.

“The most important thing for me is that I tried to leave on the best possible terms, in the way that the club said to.”

“I’d have liked to have done it in the way that Juanfran and Diego [Godin] did (press conferences), but they asked me to do it with a video.”

“[But] I said my goodbyes to the players, the staff, the physios and everyone, that was the most important thing.”

“The worst thing was that video, but I couldn’t do anything else.”

“My relationship with Cholo goes beyond a relationship between a player and a manager, he is family to me,” he continued.

“I get along very well with him, our wives get along, our daughters get along as well. He was very important for me on the pitch, and he is very important in my private life as well.”

“I owe him so much, and I love him. Our relationship will go beyond our professional careers. I heard about the accusations from Atletico Madrid.”

“It is a club where I gave everything, I was always straight with them. I am very relaxed about it.”

“All I care about is to fit with my current manager’s tactics, to have a good relationship with my teammates and enjoy football,” he concluded.

Griezmann’s challenge of getting along with Messi.

Something that is very surprising about Antoine Griezmann’s new life in Barcelona is how quickly Antoine has adapted to his teammates.

There is obviously the French link he has with his compatriots, that helped him get involved in the team’s dynamic at a faster pace.

The presence of players such as Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, Ousmane Dembele, and Jean-Clair Todibo is very refreshing to him.

Griezmann just revealed that Luis Suarez already messaged him to welcome him to the squad, he also confirmed that Messi hasn’t sent him any signals yet.

Leo is currently still enjoying his vacation with his family right after Copa America, he hasn’t had time to speak directly to his new teammate.

Getting along with Messi is one of the most important things for Griezmann’s future at FC Barcelona, not being able to do it could end his career at the Catalan club.

Antoine isn’t worried, Messi will come around and get along well with him when he returns from his time off.

However, there is also the idea that Leo is the one pushing for Neymar’s return to Barcelona this summer and Griezmann could be in the way of that love story.

We won’t know until we see them playing together.
