Opinion: Eden Hazard deserves a Ballon d’Or nomination

Perhaps he doesn’t deserve to win the award, but we are convinced that Eden Hazard needs to get a Ballon d’Or nomination this year.

We have been looking for the possible Ballon d’Or podium at the end of the year all season, we believe Eden Hazard deserves a spot in the podium.

The Belgian international was already overlooked last season despite the spectacular World Cup performance he had with his national team in Russia.

That semifinal he reached during the competition was only a prelude of the spectacular year that he was about to deliver.

Hazard keeps proving that he really has transformed into one of the best players in the world right now.

Eden is easily inside the Top 5 at the moment alongside Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, and Mohamed Salah.

Eden isn’t only considered the best player in English football by the fans of this competition, he also played a mesmerizing Europa League tournament that he crowned with the title this evening.

During his time at Chelsea, Hazard has already won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup, and two Europa League trophies including the one he won tonight.

But only six titles over the seven seasons he’s played with the Blues are not a faithful representation of the immense talent that Eden Hazard has been during this time.

Eden has grown too big to remain at Chelsea.

Even though Chelsea FC is one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, we still can’t place the Blues amongst the most successful football institutions in history.

Despite his many efforts to help the club win more Champions League trophies after he arrived from Lille, Hazard wasn’t able to accomplish what he really wanted.

But this failure to obtain the most coveted trophy at a club level isn’t Eden’s fault, the club’s structure is the reason he wasn’t able to be that successful.

Owned by Russia mogul Roman Abramovich, the Blues have kept a volatile philosophy in which managers are not trusted by their owner.

There have been a total of 10 different managers since Roman took control of the squad back in 2004, a stat the proves this club can’t keep a coach for extended periods of time.

This is what spending billions of euros does to a club’s urgency to win titles, it creates an extremely unstable institution that doesn’t understand how to generate football tradition.

Even though Maurizio Sarri reached the League Cup final and won the Europa League trophy on his first season, his position is far from secured at Chelsea.

This lack of trust in the team’s components is what prevents players like Eden Hazard from helping the squad win the biggest titles.

Hazard will get a nomination if he moves to Real Madrid.

We can already picture what will happen to Eden Hazard at the end of 2019 if he moves to Real Madrid during the summer.

This is a pattern that always appears with the world-class players after making the decision to play for Los Blancos.

It happened with Luis Figo after he changed Barcelona for Real Madrid. It also occurred to Zinedine Zidane when he decided to leave Juventus for the Spanish giants.

Hazard may not win the Ballon d’Or by the end of 2019 but he certainly should at least get a place in the podium.

Eden’s inclusion in the final list of this award might bring us the first time that Ronaldo or Messi aren’t included since 2006.

There is no other way to look at this specific situation with Eden Hazard, he already is one of the best players in the world.

We even dare to predict that the Belgian player will share the podium with Virgil van Dijk for sure, and possibly Mohamed Salah depending on how he does in the Champions League final next Saturday.

We are about to witness the best years in Eden Hazard’s career, it’s only fitting that he gets to spend them at a club as giant as Real Madrid.

Do you agree with our prediction, or who deserves a spot in the Ballon d’Or podium more than Eden Hazard? Please leave your opinion in the comment section down below.
