We will tell you the main reason why Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini deserves all the respect from Manchester United supporters.
The news of Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini leaving Manchester United to play in Chinese football might have been received as a relief for many of the club’s supporters, but we actually have a strong case to make in the Belgian midfielder’s favour.
This is exactly the type of player that Jose Mourinho adores having on his squads, the Portuguese manager was quoted praising the footballer several times during his time at the Red Devils and with good reason.
Despite having only scored 22 goals for the club during his six-year spell, many of those goals that Fellaini scored were instrumental for the club’s eventual victories or equalizers.
The most memorable of them all will go down in history as the day Jose Mourinho took his frustrations out on a set of water bottles, it was when Fellaini scored that dramatic late winner against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
This was a player who was always there for when the manager needed him, even with Belgium he played an instrumental role in his country’s last World Cup performance in Russian soil.
But for some reason, Marouane Fellaini has always been the butt of many jokes on the internet.
Huge thank you to everyone I have worked with during my time @ManUtd. I have made some great friends and wish them and the club every success for the future #manchesterunited pic.twitter.com/LKrXcUjgyq

Maybe it had something to do with that afro he sported for the better part of his career in English football, maybe it was that unusual number of unflattering pictures that surfaced after every game.
But the fans had it against Fellaini, he must have really gone through some difficult times in his career just for being seen as a joke.
Jose Mourinho’s brilliant way to integrate him to the squad was arguably one of the few good things the Portuguese manager did during his time at Manchester United, Fellaini’s career didn’t crumble down thanks to Jose Mourinho’s determination to keep him relevant even as a sub.
Now that he leaves to Chinese football, the Manchester United fans should pay a little more respect to a player who never really felt comfortable at the club but he still gave 100% of his life for those colours.
Even if Fellaini was destined to leave Manchester United sooner or later, leaving through the back door is not something that he deserves and the Red Devils should always aspire to have more players with his commitment and predisposition in the benefit of the team.

Problemas para Fellaini al llegar a China… 😅

In fact, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should’ve paid a little more respect to the player who shares the most similarities with him when he was a player.
Even though Marouane will never be considered a “Super Sub” like Ole is, there is no question that he served that role perfectly during his time in the club.
Those goals he scored are only a minuscule representation of what a player like Fellaini can ring to any squad, even manager Louis van Gaal accepted that the Belgian midfielder won him over in time due to his team spirit and professionalism.
It’s not a coincidence that Fellaini played the Dutch manager’s only FA Cup final that he played before leaving the squad, Marouane also went on to become instrumental in Mourinho’s Europa League final against Ajax.
Manager Robert Martinez has already described Fellaini as an essential player for his Belgium squad, the midfielder played against both Brazil and France in the most important matches of the tournament.
Very few people can actually describe what exactly Fellaini does, but they all agree that he is one of the best players in the world doing it.
This man deserves way more respect than he is getting, especially from all Manchester United fans.
