We tell you the reasons Kepa Arrizabalaga is the goalkeeper who deserves to be considered as Spain’s starting goalkeeper from now on.

This season has been a roller coaster of emotions for Spain’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Chelsea goalkeeper was one of the most coveted players in the world.

When he played at Athletic Club Bilbao, Real Madrid’s own Florentino Perez even got in a heated argument with Zinedine Zidane for him.

Los Blancos’ president was about to close the deal with the Basque club for the goalkeeper but ‘Zizou’ still trusted Keylor Navas and stopped the negotiation cold.

Looking at how things went down back then, Florentino decided to wait until after the World Cup in order to make a decision to bring a new goalie to Los Blancos.

Kepa’s window of opportunity passed and Real Madrid decided to sign Thibaut Courtois, this exit pushed Chelsea to bet on the player and they made a massive investment for him.

According to Transfermarkt, the Blues paid an incredible €80 million for his transfer and he immediately became one of the most expensive players in football history.

The first months at Chelsea weren’t easy for Kepa, as he struggled to remain constant under manager Maurizio Sarri.

The goalkeeper even got into a heated argument with the manager after ignoring him when he was about to get replaced during a cup match.

Kepa’s strong end of the season.

The Basque goalie may not have started the season on the right tone, but he certainly finished in the best possible manner.

Manager Maurizio Sarri soon realized that having a disagreement with such a talented goalkeeper was not the smartest thing to do, which is why he quickly buried the hatchet between them.

This olive branch is the reason that Kepa decided to bring his A-game during the final months of the season, his decision paid off big time for Chelsea.

As a result, we got Kepa performing incredible feats for the Blues in the League Cup and Europa League tournaments.

His penalty shootout heroics against Eintracht Frankfurt are the reason Chelsea got to play and win the Europa League final this season.

Kepa was easily the best Spanish goalkeeper of the season and he even surpassed Manchester United’s David de Gea.

In fact, we even dare say that the Blues’ goalie has taken the starring role in the squad from David.

Manager Luis Enrique should give Kepa the chance to start in the next Euro 2020 Qualifying match.

Spain is facing Sweden on June 10, this should be Kepa’s chance to take De Gea’s place in an important match.

De Gea should bounce back next season.

The fact that David De Gea suffered so much at Manchester United last season is the reason he may have lost the starring role with Spain.

Manager Luis Enrique has always been known for giving a chance to the players who are going through their best moment.

Contrary to previous managers that put history above level of performance, Luis Enrique will give Kepa his debut against Sweden next Monday.

David De Gea will start a new season at Manchester United and he will have a better opportunity to earn back his spot with Spain, he is still considered the better goalkeeper out of the two.

Kepa Arrizabalaga represents the biggest threat to David De Gea’s position as the starting goalkeeper from his national team.

Watching both of them competing for the position will be really exciting over the next few years, but David will have to step up his game if he wants to have a shot against Kepa.

The Manchester United goalie will have a challenging time with the new squad, as the Red Devils try to construct the project under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

For now, Arrizabalaga is the one who has the upper hand.
