Real Madrid had a disappointing 2018-19 campaign, their first without Cristiano Ronaldo who left the club last summer.
Maybe it wasn’t only Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure but Real Madrid didn’t really do well without the Portuguese star last season.
The players were probably not as ambitious as in the previous seasons, when they won three Champions League titles in a row and four in five years.
Of course, all the success played its part in their mindset, as they did not really find it as a challenge to win the European Cup once again, and slipped up in the Round of 16 for the first time in 10 years, losing to Champions League sensation AFC Ajax.

However, it was more than evident that the Real Madrid squad is desperate for changes and that’s exactly what they did this summer.
Florentino Perez made sure Zinedine Zidane returns to the dugout at Santiago Bernabeu and promised him big names in the following transfer market.
Zidane, however, is still not 100% happy with his current squad and wants to buy fellow Frenchmans Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe.
And we can see why. Both of them are World Cup winners, still young and have the chance to improve their game under the 48-year old manager.
Mbappe is only 20 years old and is undoubtedly the successor of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the king of football in the 2020s decade.
Acquiring the Frenchman from PSG would basically see Real Madrid sign the most talented player in football and return 10 years back in time, when they did the same with Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.
Just to make it clear, we don’t want to underestimate Eden Hazard by any means. The Belgian is an extraordinary football player who is in his best form at the moment and can lead Los Blancos to Champions League glory in the coming years.
But Kylian Mbappe is the one for the future. The 20-year old can continuously bring success to Santiago Bernabeu for more than a decade and possibly emulate Cristiano Ronaldo’s generation which won four Champions League titles between 2014 and 2018.

And he will also have an immediate impact, as he is already a big star in football. The youngster has won three consecutive titles in Ligue 1, both French Cups and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, becoming the only teenager since Pele to score in the final.
Mbappe has scored more than 100 goals in his career and he is only 20 years old. Stats which Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo did not even dream having when they were at his age.
