We tell you our reasons why Lionel Messi doesn’t deserve the Ballon d’Or this season despite his great La Liga season at FC Barcelona.
Most of us were fooled by Lionel Messi’s season until the Champions League semifinals, the Argentine doesn’t deserve the Ballon d’Or this season.
As the Catalan club progressed during the year and he kept scoring amazing goals, the whole world started thinking that we might have his best version back.
However, we were all completely fooled by the Argentine until the last semifinal match he played against Liverpool.
This game at Anfield Road was the one that would decide if he was worthy of reaching another Champions League final.
When the key moment came for him to respond, Leo Messi completely disappeared between the legs of Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman surpassed Messi in almost every single aspect, this was the ultimate contest to know which player deserves this trophy the most.
Now that we know how terrible the result for Barcelona was, we can already tell you that Leo Messi doesn’t deserve the Ballon d’Or this season despite what everybody is thinking.
Perhaps Leo deserves a spot on the podium but he doesn’t deserve to actually win the award when France Football delivers it by the end of the year.

What about his La Liga goals?
Winning the Ballon d’Or and scoring the most goals in a season shouldn’t be that closely related, Messi broke that tradition in 2012 but things are different now.
The Argentine player has already scored 34 goals this season and he will most likely win the Golden Shoe Award this season.
This individual accolade should be everything he wins internationally, perhaps La Liga’s Best Player of the Season Award as well. But that’s it.
Trophies such as the Ballon d’Or or FIFA’s The Best Award should always go to the players who tend to play the most important tournaments in the world during a natural year.
This doesn’t mean that Messi can’t still opt to win those accolades, he still has the Copa America to play and he will have a better chance if Argentina wins it.
However, it’s very unlikely that Lionel Messi can take his national team to victory over the summer.
It seems that Leo is doomed to keep suffering for not winning the most important awards of the season until he gets better teammates who can play alongside him.
Leo really is one of the best players in football history but this is a team sport, the man can’t do everything alone or win all the trophies by himself.

Leo Messi is extremely sad in Barcelona.
After a rough Champions League elimination last Tuesday, Lionel Messi was a very sad poem during practice and during his club’s latest La Liga match.
The Argentine provoked his squad’s second goal against Getafe but he didn’t celebrate it with his teammates.
It is evident that Lionel Messi is going through the most difficult moment of the season and it will take a long time to recover.
We are not even sure that winning the Copa del Rey final will help him forget the huge heartbreak he suffered in the Champions League.
These are exactly the moments in which Messi tends to start thinking about the future and he starts getting doubts about his place at the club.
Leo has said in the past that he will remain at Barcelona as long as he keeps winning titles but losing the Champions League must hurt his pride as a player.
The man can’t be happy with only winning more La Liga titles, there will come a time when he gets tired of getting eliminated to repeatedly.
Either FC Barcelona does something quickly or they could have a major issue with Leo Messi on their hands. The Argentine won’t hold this situation for much longer.
