After the reports of Massimiliano Allegri possibly coaching FC Barcelona surfaced, we need to talk about why this is such a bad idea.
We recently caught wind of a report from Goal that suggests FC Barcelona might be after manager Massimiliano Allegri.
The Italian coach was recently told that he wouldn’t continue to manage Juventus next season, which leaves him a chance to coach other clubs.
The coach recently spoke to DAZN about the chances he could get somewhere else but he confirmed that he isn’t in a rush to find a new job.
Allegri has been working non-stop for the last 12 years, he does seem like he could take a break from football.
The man did win five consecutive Serie A titles between 2014 and 2019, he also won the same title as the AC Milan manager in 2011.
We are obviously talking about a great professional, but he still hasn’t managed to win the UEFA Champions League.
We can’t forget that Allegri took his squad all the way to the final on two different occasions, he lost against two different Spanish clubs each time.
The first time he lost was back in 2015, during his very first year as the Juventus manager.
The Old Lady played the final against FC Barcelona that time, his side lost 3-1 and got denied the opportunity to win this competition again.
Allegri never gave up and he continued to deliver great results on the domestic level, he kept winning the Serie A with practically no opposition.

The second final defeat against another Spanish giant.
By the time the 2016-17 season came, Allegri was certain that his squad was more competitive than the one that reached the Champions League final during his first year.
The squad reached the final again but they lost painfully against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid, they didn’t even stand a chance against Los Blancos.
This would be the last time that an Allegri-managed Juventus reached this stage in the competition.
It is clear that this manager has mad skill when it comes to winning the domestic competitions, but he still lacks the experience to win the continental tournament.
This is the reason why we believe that FC Barcelona coming after him as the new manager is a terrible idea.
Massimiliano Allegri is a defensive manager, someone who is nowhere near what the Catalan club has traditionally brought to the job.
We do believe that the Italian is world-class, we think he could easily manage a club in England with a certain level of success.
We even think that he could coach Bayern Munich and win several trophies there, he could be a great addition to the Bundesliga with the ideal roster.

Allegri doesn’t fit the Barcelona profile.
Our problem with Massimiliano Allegri coaching FC Barcelona has a lot more to do with his lack of knowledge of the club’s traditions.
Other than perhaps Maurizio Sarri, there hasn’t been an Italian manager who has a philosophy that resembles the Barcelona possession-based style of play.
Allegri certainly doesn’t fit this profile and the Barcelona board seems desperate with this latest move.
This is yet another proof that president Josep Maria Bartomeu is not qualified to keep the job as the club’s president.
The options of Ronald Koeman, Erik ten Hag, and even Xavi Hernandez are way better than Massimiliano Allegri for Barcelona.
We believe that if this comes to fruition, half of the club’s board should immediately resign because they are moving away from a tradition that brought the club the most important titles.
We believe that the Catalan club should keep looking for that same formula that transformed them into one of the best clubs in football history within the span of 20 years.
We have nothing against Massimiliano Allegri, we just don’t think he is an ideal fit for a club like Barcelona. We could even bet that he doesn’t see himself as a good option for this job.
