Opinion: Messi gets back to his best with perfect timing

After leading FC Barcelona to a crucial win at Sevilla, Lionel Messi can finally rest easy because he got back to his best form in time to face Real Madrid.

The last couple of weeks weren’t easy for Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona, the Argentine player really struggles to be on his best form after suffering a muscular problem in the Copa del Rey match against Valencia.

The Argentina international wasn’t feeling great in the following matches, the Catalan club got a couple of bad results in all competitions but they still didn’t lose a single match.

However, the ghosts of previous seasons were starting to hover above the FC Barcelona fans because they were afraid of getting eliminated from everything in the upcoming weeks.

A major component of this fear was not having Messi at his absolute best, the man did try to get those goals but something wasn’t feeling great during the matches at Camp Nou against Real Madrid, Athletic Club against San Mames, and even at Groupama Stadium against Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League.

Fortunately for the Catalan club, they did get a win against Real Valladolid last weekend despite playing some of their worst football of the season.

Messi was off in pretty much all of those matches, although he did score the penalty against the Pucela squad and gave Barcelona the confidence to play this Saturday against Sevilla.

Regardless of how far up in the table the Catalan club is, everybody knew that winning against the Andalusian squad at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium today was absolutely key for their aspirations to keep fighting for all the trophies.

Messi had a perfect test ahead of him against Sevilla, playing a great match today would secure him going to the Santiago Bernabeu next week with his confidence through the roof.

Now that we know what the result was, we can rest easy because we got the best Lionel Messi back with perfect timing and everybody in Madrid is already starting to tremble with fear.

Los Blancos know that Leo has a perfect relationship with the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, which is one of his favorite playgrounds and a place that always brings him the best memories.

The first of three complicated test was passed with flying colors, Messi came back to save the day once again and he now has 50 match balls that his sons Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro can play with at home after his latest hat-trick.

Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona

Simeone not interested in latest Griezmann-Barca scandal

Diego Simeone wouldn't discuss Thursday's bombshell that Antoine Griezmann negotiated a hefty commission for signing with Barcelona while still at Atletico Madrid.

It was obvious that the Argentine player would speak to the press after the match, he analyzed the victory and spoke about the dip in form that the club was going through.

“We can’t say that we have half of La Liga already in the bag because there is still so much to play this season, but it winning today was incredibly important because of what it means to keep the distance from our closest competitors,” said Leo via Diario Sport.

“We have some very difficult matches ahead, as we do all season really. Every competition is starting to come to a close and winning is starting to become more difficult, this is why winning here was very important for us.”

“Winning is always hard, we know what it means to play at this stadium, the players they have. It’s never easy to win here, things got really difficult for us after the first goal they scored against us.”

“It’s great that we could overcome all that because it wasn’t easy and we could get the result in the end. This is all about stages of the season. We can’t always perform at the highest level.”

“In the last few weeks, we didn’t play our best football and that made everything more difficult when we attempted to score goals.”

“But when the game flows, things work out on their own and I think we could be ourselves again today, we played a fantastic match.”
