It’s time to address the elephant in the room, we need to tell you why Ronaldo Nazario is a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo.
There has been a lot of debate regarding this issue throughout the week, Jose Mourinho said that Ronaldo Nazario is better than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
We want to take a moment to acknowledge these statements and tell you our take on them, but we’ll only focus on the comparison between the Brazilian and the Portuguese stars.
The players that share the same name, and have wildly successful careers share a major difference between the two.
Accomplishments-wise, it’s pretty obvious that Cristiano is way better than Ronaldo.
The Portugal international has five Ballon d’Or trophies, four Golden Shoes, five UEFA Champions League titles, six domestic league titles in the three biggest European competitions, and the list goes on.
Ronaldo Nazario has one League title, he never won the UEFA Champions League, he only has two Ballon d’Or titles, and he played at the highest level for way less time than Cristiano.
If we are talking about achievements on the international stage, the Brazilian takes a better record as he won two Copa America titles and two FIFA World Cup trophies.
Cristiano only won the Euro 2016, and the UEFA Nations League this year.

Counting trophies and overall career, the Portugal legend is by far the better player without question.
However, there is a very specific aspect that Cristiano lacks compared to many more players in football history that include Ronaldo Nazario.
Unlike footballers such as Pele, Maradona, Leo Messi, Alfredo Di Stefano, and Brazilian Ronaldo, Cristiano lacks that spark.
There is a certain raw talent aspect that the other players were born with, whereas Cristiano had to work for many years in order to get to where he is.
In order to understand why Ronaldo Nazario was the better player, we can look at the statement that Jose Mourinho made about both players.
We can guarantee that the Brazil legend would’ve lived a similar career to the one Cristiano and Messi lived if it wasn’t for those injuries.
We all know the story about the time he was playing at Inter and suffered that horrific ACL injury, this pretty much cut Ronaldo Nazario’s career short.
Before this happened, the star was bound to become the greatest player in football history.
He would’ve also been the pioneer in that particular level of performance that Messi and Ronaldo deliver on a weekly basis today.

Messi is closer to Ronaldo Nazario than Cristiano.
We also have to agree with Jose Mourinho about the Brazilian being a better player than Leo Messi, the natural-born talent was there all along.
Messi obviously has this as well, but nobody can compare to what Ronaldo Nazario could do on the pitch.
Perhaps only Ronaldinho Gaucho had a similar impact on football as his compatriot did, but he was never the best player in a FIFA World Cup.
We are sorry for all the Cristiano Ronaldo fanboys who will be outraged by our hot take, we urge you to read a little more history about Ronaldo Nazario.
We are sure that all the ones who don’t agree with us are very young, and you weren’t able to enjoy the Brazilian Ronaldo as we did when he was in his prime.
We guarantee you that watching some videos of his goals and skill will change your mind about him, the man was truly mesmerizing when he had the ball at his feet.
We are also sorry to the Messi fanboys who also don’t agree with us, we love Messi as much as we love Cristiano but we have to accept the reality.
The Brazilian Ronaldo is still one of the Top 5 best players who ever lived, regardless of how little he played at the highest level.
We would ask you to change our minds, but you can’t.
