Ossie Ardiles not sure if Eriksen should be kept

Tottenham legend, Ossie Ardiles believes that it would be a futile effort to force Christian Eriksen to stay at the club if he wants to leave.

Christian Eriksen is a wanted man this summer after admitting that he wants to try something new. While not issuing a rather unprofessional come and get me plea, the Denmark international has only said that he wants to experience something new.

“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new,” he told Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet recently.

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay.

“But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan.”

Pochettino: ‘Happy’ Christian Eriksen ready for Spurs action

Mauricio Pochettino insists Christian Eriksen is "happy" and in the right frame of mind for Tottenham despite his failed summer exit.

And after representing the London giants for 6 years with aplomb, no one would begrudge the former Ajax man from wanting a move out.

And Ossie Ordiles believes that if Eriksen doesn’t want to stay, the Spurs making any efforts to change his mind would be futile. As the player reportedly goes house hunting in Madrid, the Spurs legend says that Eriksen is already keen on going and has made up his mind.

“It looks to me like he has put his mind on a move – that he wants to go somewhere else,” he told talkSPORT.

“And if that is the case it’s futile for the club to try and keep a player when he wants to leave.

“I won’t say he’s not happy with us, because he is, but his mind is trying to play somewhere else, and the best thing is to part company.”

And with just a year left on his contract, perhaps cashing in wouldn’t be a bad move.
