According to the player’s agent, Nicolas Otamendi would quit Manchester City for the chance to play for River Plate.

Nicolas Otamendi has a contract at Manchester City until 2022. But the Argentine would find it difficult to resist cutting that deal short should River Plate want him to join.

Otamendi was a 45 million Euro signing back in 2015 from Valencia. He has been an ever-present figure over the years for City.

Although his playing time has been reduced as the years have passed.

However, as he enters the twilight of his career, his agent admits the opportunity to return home for one last hoorah would be desirable.

Better still if that chance happened to be with Argentinian giants River Plate, it may be impossible to turn down.

Speaking to TyC Sports Otamendi’s agent Martin Sendoa admits it is the player’s wish to make the move before the end of his career. Yet while nothing has happened as of right now anything is possible.

He said:

“Nicolas’ desire is to retire in River, he is dying to play there.”

“He is well at [Manchester City], he is playing more than last year.”

“But if River calls him and convinces him…in June it may happen.”

“No leader has called me, they still have not made a move.”

“Nicolas is not going to offer, he has to get the call from Gallardo. But one call would change everything.”

River plate fans are apparently excited by the idea!
