Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde insists Ousmane Dembele can do more after his impressive performance against Villarreal.
Barcelona defeated Villarreal at the Camp Nou on Sunday 2-0 with Dembele impressing, providing the assist for Gerard Pique to open the scoring for the Catalan club.
The France international started the first nine matches of the season but has been in and out of the team since he was dropped for the trip to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League in October.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund winger has been in good form of late with a goal and two assists in his last three matches.
He also scored a late equaliser against Atletico Madrid to earn Barcelona a point and he set up Lionel Messi’s goal against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.
“Dembele produced a great performance,” Valverde said, according to BT Sport.
“He was one of the players that stood out. He has so many things to his game: pace, he can dribble, beat players, self-confidence, he takes risks. We hope he can keep showing that in the coming games.”
“But this has been coming, it’s not an isolated (performance). But we can also ask for more. He ended the game tired after the effort he put in and we’re really happy with him.”
