Sevilla boss Pablo Machin was naturally delighted with the “desire” his side showed after thrashing Akhisar 6-0 in the Europa League
Los Rojiblancos’ stunning victory at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan saw them jump to the top of Group J on goal difference.
Roque Mesa, Pablo Sarabia, Milan Lukac, Luis Muriel, Quincy Promes and Gabriel Mercado all found the net for Sevilla against Turkish side Akhisar.
And Machin hailed his players’ attitude afterwards for continuing to search for more goals in the game, despite their big advantage.
“When the players are satisfied, then the coach has to be as well. This isn’t to say that we are anything different to what we were,” Machin told the club website.
“The strikers scored, Roque Mesa opened the game, Aleix played a great game. The players demonstrated their desire and felt involved. We must keep cultivating this idea.
“Football is a sport in which if you have a bad afternoon and the opponent has a good one, anything can happen.
“We started well and from that point on the team did not conform, while respecting the opposition. We’ve achieved the biggest win and that flatters us.”
Sevilla will now turn their focus back to La Liga, where they will host the struggling newcomers SD Huesca on Sunday.
