Maldini looks to bring back the glory days at Milan. The legendary Italian is intent on being the next Technical Director at the club

Paolo Maldini is one of the stalwarts of the game. The man is an exemplary figure for professionals all over the world.

The man made a career at AC Milan, winning everything there was to achieve. He won the UEFA Champions League five times. The only missing trophy in his illustrious career is a Ballon d’Or.

But the glory days are long gone at Milan. The last silverware for the club came in 2011 – a sorry state for a massive club.

Paolo Maldini received an offer as a Sporting Director at his boyhood club. La Gazzetta dello Sport now understands that he has made up his mind to take the role.

And Maldini will not be the only arrival at Milan. The club recently lost its head coach, Gennaro Gattuso. They are in hot pursuit of Marco Giampaolo, as they look to fill up the position as quickly as possible.

There is positive news on that front as well. Giampaolo seems to find the Milan project in line with his own ambitions. His appointment will only move the club in the right direction.

For the moment, it is unsure whether the imminent arrival of Maldini is part of Giampaolo’s decision making.

But the new staff will be a breathe of fresh air at the club. AC Milan have been going downhill for a number of years now. Their fans have a ray of hope in the arrival of their hero of the old.

It will also be a lesser burden on Ivan Gazidis, as the former Arsenal Chief Executive looks to rebuild the squad this summer.

AC Milan fans are soon to see Maldini part of a staff role at their club.
