“Papu” Gomez will stay with Atalanta

The team’s star has been under Lazio’s radar for a while, but he says he wants to continue playing with his club next season.

Atalanta star Alejandro “Papu” Gomez has been under Lazio’s radar for his great performances in the Italian Lega Seria A club.

But today, he spoke at Stadio Olimpico to be clear and say he doesn’t plan to leave his team in the foreseen future.

“I know there was a great interest in Lazio for me, but it didn’t affect me,” he was quoted by Calcio Mercato.

“I have always said that with Atalanta competitive at great levels, as we are doing this year, I would have stayed without even discussing it.”

According to Petronella Ekroth being with the Bianconeri felt like being "in prison" as she returned to her native Sweden.

He continued: “I’ve been in Bergamo for five years, I don’t know if I can consider myself a flag like De Rossi in Rome, for example.”

“I know I am important for the team and for my team-mates.”

“These years we have all grown together, and this makes me proud and happy for the contribution I have been able to make to reach the goals we have set ourselves, like going to the Europa League,” he said.

“Bringing this joy and joy to the Bergamo public really makes us happy.”
