Paratici: Champions League is the aim for Juventus in 2019

Fabio Paratici outlined Juventus’ objective for 2019 after being named Sporting Director of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai

The Bianconeri secured a seventh Serie A title in a row along with a fourth-straight Coppa Italia and ended 2018 with a record points total for the first half of a season.

But, for Paratici, going one better this year by delivering Juventus’ first Champions League title since 1996 has to be their main goal.

“We hope it will be a year as good as,” Paratici told Sky Sport Italia.

“If not better than those we have experienced in the last seven, this is the wish I give to all the people who work for Juventus and all the fans.

“The first thought of 2019 is the Champions League, which has become our goal, especially after playing at the highest level in the last few tournaments.

“We are ready to be leading lights until the end and we have more belief than in previous years.”

The 46-year-old believes Juventus are well equipped to succeed with a manager in Massimiliano Allegri and summer recruit Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I think Allegri is the best possible coach for Juventus and Juventus is the perfect team for the coach,” added Paratici.

“Cristiano is the best player in the world. So with his arrival, everyone’s belief has increased, however, we were already at a high level.

“Juve has always been a club that competes at the top, and in recent years we have always played well in the Champions League, and we have had great players, but now we also have Cristiano Ronaldo.”
