Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has praised his team’s performance despite suffering a loss to Aston Villa on Friday night.

Bolton lost 2-0 on home soil to Villa, thanks to goals from Jack Grealish and James Chester, but Parkinson insists his team deserved more from the game following their impressive performance.

“The lads have given absolutely everything and we can’t question the attitude and application of them,” he told the club’s official website.

“We passed the ball well at times, it is just that final bit of sticking the ball in the back of the net.”

“Some of the crossings in the first half was better. We got tired in the second half and a bit careless with our ball into the final third.”

“I thought our set play delivery was better tonight, showing there are areas from tonight’s game that we can be pleased with.”

“We are just missing that ability to stick the ball in the back of the net.”

Bolton next host Swansea City at the University of Bolton Stadium in their next Sky Bet Championship game, as they look to steer clear of the relegation zone this season.
