Roberto D’Aversa has told his footballers that they cannot be complacent today as Parma is “newly-promoted”
For Parma boss Roberto D’Aversa the match against Sassuolo today will be very difficult.
The Italian Serie A club is newly-promoted and D’Aversa knows this means they are never favorites before the games.
“Sassuolo are one of those sides right behind the big clubs who can aim for something more than mere safety, but we have to focus on securing our Serie A status,” the coach told Football Italia.
“If we do well on the day and win the game, we can leapfrog Sassuolo in the table, but they remain a step ahead of us on the ladder anyway.”
“There should be no comparisons with Sassuolo, as we are a newly-promoted club, they are very ambitious and spent a lot of money on the transfer market,” he added.
“Roberto De Zerbi is a fine coach and I say that independently of the fact he is my friend.”
“I watched him train, I’ve seen him at work and he has a lot of experience, despite being so young,” he concluded.
