With Roma interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus, Paulo Fonseca admits that the player’s profile is interesting.
Gonzalo Higuain is surplus to requirements at Juventus despite being reunited with Maurizio Sarri. The Argentine international spent the second half of last season on loan at Chelsea who chose not to make the move permanent.
As such, the experienced striker is in limbo and would seek an exit from Turin.
Reports claim that AS Roma would be interested in bringing the player to the Italian capital. And the club’s sports director, Gianluca Petrachi also admitted a few days ago that Higuain is a player who can return to his best if he plays for Roma.
“Higuain? I think that whoever questions Higuain’s qualities is crazy. At the moment, he has lost a bit of confidence in himself and he could probably be good for Roma if Dzeko left. I try to bring players who want to come, not champions who are not motivated. To see the real Higuain, there is no better solution than Roma.”
And Paulo Fonseca is pretty much of the same opinion. While speaking to reporters, Fonseca says that although he agrees with Petrachi, he would rather not discuss players who aren’t with the club right now.
“I’m in complete agreement with everything Petrachi said. But I do not intent to talk about players who are not here. It seems fair to mention the players who are with us right now,” said Fonseca, as reported by Foot Mercato.
Edin Dzeko is one player who has been linked with a move away from the club. The Bosnian international has been in great form but is reportedly keen on a new challenge. And if the former Manchester City man leaves, Roma are likely to push for a move for Gonzalo Higuain who may rediscover his lost form with I Lupi.
