While he never got a chance to play alongside the new Chelsea manager, Pedro has been impressed by how creative Lampard is.
Chelsea forward, Pedro admits that he has been very impressed with how Frank Lampard is doing things at the club.
The former England international arrived from Derby County this summer after a sensational season with the Rams whom he almost took back to the Premier League. That was his first job as a football manager and it appears that Lampard is going to gain valuable experience at the top level.
And Pedro, who is one of the senior players at the club, has been impressed by how Lampard is approaching games.
While speaking to talkSPORT, the Spaniard said that a lot of high intensity drills and pressing without a ball have become recurring themes in training sessions.
“We’ve been training really hard with Frank this week,” Pedro said. “It’s very hard work, high intensity. We’re pressing a lot without the ball, when we’ve got the ball we have to move it quickly, and in transition (we have to be) very good.
“It’s very good to work under Frank. He’s a legend at this club. He’s a very good coach with very good ideas but it’s only five days working with him and for the future we have to prepare very well this month.”
And while the team drew 1-1 to Bohemians in his first game in charge, Lampard was satisfied with how things went overall.
“It was a good run-out, we had good support and thanks for people turning out. It was a tough first game for us as we have not been back for long.
“This is what pre-season is all about and the quicker we get there, to the level we want, then the better. We wanted to win the game as you always do but it is not about that.”
