Even at 79, Pele still keeps tabs on world football, closely following the best footballers and clubs, giving his opinion on the matter.

This time around, Pele spoke about the world’s best player. There is no doubt in his mind, he thinks that Lionel Messi is the most complete player in the world.

Gazzetta dello Sport asked Pele to name a player he would like to play with. Pele replied saying:

“I think of Leo Messi.

“He is a skilled player, gives assists, passes, scores, dribbles well.

“If we were in the team together, the opponents should worry about two players, not just one!”

Pele ended by cementing Messi’s status as the best:

“Today, Messi is the most complete player.”

We can’t argue with the legendary Brazilian. Barcelona’s ace shows no signs of stopping, unlike his main competitor, as Ronaldo’s age seems to be catching up with him.
